ONE HEAD WONDERS

Body, soul, and mind - independent or unified substances? Can they exist and function separately from each other? Is it possible to feel complete when they are separated?

In the multidisciplinary project "One head wonders," Ria Dian emphasizes the complexity of connecting and harmoniously functioning these three substances, necessary for a meaningful life.

Each of them has its function: the energy of the soul initiates all processes; the mind balances, rationalizes, relates to reality, and embodies; and the body becomes a direct executor, which, however, in different forms feels the consequences of initiated and considered actions.

Our lives are limited by norms and rules and often resemble a stream, a flow, along which the body, only endowed with soul and mind, drifts on autopilot. "One head wonders" - the aspiration to show the viewer that reunification is possible but requires great effort.

The diversity of forms and materials highlights the complexity and variability of connecting the body, soul, and mind. The project uses paper, plastic, felting, threads, wooden structures, and glass beads. The research is based on fixing the plasticity, autonomous existence of each substance, each element of the larger whole, and the aspiration to understand how long they can remain independent, similar to how long the head and limbs can exist on their own, without the body.

By contemplating the plasticity of materials, flexibility, and variety of forms, Ria reminds us: in order to reach the intended goal, one must step out of the mindless flow, listen to oneself - and unite the body, soul, and mind.
